Personal Investments • Re: Treasury Direct - The Eternal Wait and No Way To Track Transfer

While I was OK dealing with TD, having handled the estates for two sets of parents, I decided my son who will handle our estate, would not be grateful to have to deal with it. I have a few T Bills remaining that will mature over the next several months, then I’m done.

I understand that for those who have made I-Bonds a part of their plan, there is no alternative.
I would not in a million years inflict TD on my executor and heirs.
Our sole heir will be receiving plenty from a lot of sources. I have no issue with her, or her representative, having to do some legwork to get money out of TD when/if the time comes. Among other things to make it at least somewhat easier is that today our registrations use WITH and both of us have each other' transaction rights. Upon the death of one of us, the survivor is to change the registration to POD our heir. Nothing here is perfect and there are plenty of things that could happen to mess up this plan, of course.

We've have had a TD account for a decade now. We haven't had a single issue with them. Not with customer service, not with I-bonds nor with T-Bills back when we owned them, nor with the electronic conversion of an ancient savings bond I had.

Cheers.
