I kept a companion savings account at the bank with my checking for 15 years, mainly for over draft protection. I kept $1000 in it, mainly because I can't be bothered remembering how much to avoid monthly fees. But like you, I always kept enough in the checking for next month's expense, never ever needed it. So I just closed it recently. I probably got 15c over the lifetime of the savings account. Why do we let banks do this to us?I have a savings account there that I have had for about as long. I think it has no fee if it has $300 in it. I keep about $500 in it. I don't know what it is for anymore.
