Condolences on your loss. Here's how we did it. When I told my wife I was thinking I'd retire (she was still working) she immediately announced, "since you'll be home all day, you can make the salads and at least start dinner." I became a pretty good cook and she continued to work 6 more years until covid hit. I wanted her to retire all along, but she loved coming home from work to the salads made, dinner started (if not already in the oven) and the cocktails made, too much and was afraid it would end if she was home too. It didn't. I'd tell everyone, it took 30 years but she has me fully domesticated. She passed away in April and I miss her everyday.
I only stopped trying to get my wife to retire recently, once I finally got it through my thick head that she really enjoys working.
My special task was to set my alarm for 15 minutes before my wife’s so that I have fresh hot coffee with frothed milk waiting for her. That has worked well for about 3 decades now Image may be NSFW.
