Went through a similar situation a handful of years back where I thought a lien might be placed due to a contractor not paying their bills so I did some prep work ahead of time. A lien was never filed so I never had to follow through but at the time I learned that the easiest way was to file "a demand for bringing suit". It essentially gives the person filing the lien 30 days to bring a suit to court or the lien is forfeited and goes away. I was assuming I could prove that I paid my bills since I had copies of all my receipts. Since I never had to file one, I don't know the costs associated with it and whether it would have been financially worth it.Hi everyone,
I need advice on a mechanic's lien notice I received in Minnesota.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
