Just thought I’d let ya know, I did a TSP to tIRA to Roth IRA process with Fidelity starting in early November. TSP was quick in getting the check from the Treasury to Fidelity in under a week from the date I did the transaction. But while the funds had cleared and I could even see a photo of the check in my account, Fidelity would not let me access the funds to do a conversion… they cited recent fraud involving checks and wouldn’t let me do the conversion for another three weeks! Despite my complaints and explaining that this is a Treasury check direct from TSP, they held it up until early December!!! Besides this resulting in me having to pay additional taxes on gain in the tIRA as compared to if they had allowed it to go through right away, if i had been trying to do the process now with Fidelity I’d be flirting with possibly missing the 4th quarter estimated tax payment window because of their not giving me access to funds sent directly from the Treasury … I have learned my lesson, my next TSP conversation will not be with Fidelity..
