My son (only child) will have two years left in college after this year.
Fortunately, we'll have over half of the account remaining after all is said and done.
My plan is to keep what will be required for the next 2.5 years in cash to fund the remainder of his college expenses, then keep the remainder in a long term portfolio for future use.
My issue is that the portfolio is in all cash/bonds right now. I'd like some advice on how to build up to a more balanced portfolio for the long term portion (ie global 60/40). Just lump sum reallocate to the target portfolio? DCA to target over some period of time?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
