Not sure whether this is the last I'll have to report on this issue, but it does demonstrate why GEHA (or any FEHB insurer) shouldn't enroll a member in a program without permission...
The letters received today from HHS / Silver Script address my wife and I as if we are currently enrolled in the Part D program, which, as explained above, we had already opted out of.
The letters indicate, contrary to what we were told by GEHA / Silver Script reps, that we would have to pay an LEP, (Late Enrollment Penalty), for not having opted for Part D coverage at the time we enrolled in Medicare Part A at age 65.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over it since we already have proof that we opted out in early December, 2024. That said, the information we received that there would be no charges for being enrolled by GEHA in the program were incorrect, false and misleading at best.
This is what happens when the right hand has no idea of what the left hand is doing, and the account holder is left out of the decision making process.
