And if you have someone who you believe may become incapacitated, DO IT NOW!

Due to a somewhat unique circumstance, we needed a POA to access a business account my homebound MIL owned. Due to her long standing relationship, the Wells Fargo branch manager came to her house and notarized a POA our attorney had drawn up. The manager then submitted the POA to the Wells Fargo legal office. They initially refused to honor it because "they didn't know if she was still alive or not".... The fact that their branch manager had signed it IN HER PRESENCE the day before was irrelevant to them.... They finally honored it after our lawyer called the Wells legal department and 'had words" with them. If there is an easy way and a way to make things more difficult, at EVERY step, Wells proved they would go out of their way to make things more difficult for us. They finally got their due when we recently moved a 7 digit account out from Wells after it was there for over 30 years including the predecessor banks...
