But this option seems so legally and financially complicated; I've spent hours reading up on investment properties, vacation home laws, LLCs, fair market value, depreciation etc etc. We've talked with our CPA (who was not very helpful). My mind is swimming now with too many details.
you're overcomplicaitng this.
spend that brainpower on deciding if this is really the way you're going to help them. and if so, simply buy the condo and they live in it. it's nothing to do with all the research topics listed above.
