Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Re: Anyone banking with Everbank?

This happened to me many years ago (2008), so hopefully Everbank has cleaned up their act since then.

I have dealt with dozens of online banks over the years and the only one I ever had a problem with was Everbank. I had a ($100K) online CD that matured and I requested Everbank mail me a check.

One week passed, no check, so I called their support line. I was told that the check was "in process" and would be mailed out shortly.

Another week passed, no check, and this time I was told "the person that writes the check is on vacation." Are you kidding me?

On the third week, no check, I called and was told "we have 30 days from your maturity date to issue you a check."

I was sitting at my computer looking at the PDF file of the "Truth and Disclosures" pamphlet, so I asked the representative to point out the page number and paragraph in the disclosure that says Everbank has 30 days to honor a withdrawal. She paused and then said she would transfer me to her supervisor. The supervisor got on the phone and I reiterated, "show me where it says you have 30 days." At that point, he said he would take care of this matter. And then he blurts out, "so let me ask you a question, why didn't you believe the representative when she told you we have 30 days?"

In other words, we lied to you and are upset that you didn't believe our lie.
I haven't checked recently, but the right to ask for 30 days notice for a bank withdrawal at least used to be standard language in bank account rules disclosures.
