Investing - Theory, News & General • Re: Why equity allocation makes so little difference in withdrawal rates?

You can replace bond with dividend funds to resolve the limitations of Bonds.
If dividends producing securities are serving you well, that's good.

But I'm not seeing a useful comparison here. Dividends are derived from stocks, and bonds returns (however you choose to value them) are derived from well, ...bonds. So dividends vs bonds is equivalent to stocks vs bonds.

Also for stocks, I don't see any magic in dividends. When a company pays out dividends, the value of the stock drops by the value of the dividend. So, it's not really a net gain. It's just a stock sale triggered by the company.

Now, what I do see is that you have a successful strategy. and dividends are working for you. Your dividend strategy lends proof to the originally theory in this thread that "equity allocation makes so little difference in withdrawal rates'.

So, the key really is having enough financial assets to retire comfortably. One measure of a successful strategy may simply be that one (I'm not referring to anyone in particular) can be out enjoying life instead of fretting about every dollar. Once you make your "number", pick an asset allocation & withdrawal strategy you are comfortable with and enjoy your retirement!
