This boglehead has an engineering degree but at age 63 proud they only worked as an engineer for 1 year. Flew in the Air Force for 20+ years which was as close as I could get to the AF Mission, then hired as systems engineer in defense industry, quickly escaped to business development after 1 year. A few hours sitting at my desk changing page after page on the A Spec from 16 bit to 32 bit by adding 16 zeros to each line of the 1000 page word doc as a new systems engineer solved any thought I was going to make a contribution to our companies profits as the new guy. Eventually I did help win a few 9 figure military radar deals over the next decade. I’d say this boglehead wanted a job that had a steady paycheck and a job where I could feel I was making a contribution to the mission. In the mean time I learned that index funds were a prudent way to invest for cost and diversification and results. Go bogleheads!
