I am no expert, but the contractor could seal the door with plastic and tape while the work is being done, seal the vents in the bathroom with plastic and tape, get an exhaust fan that blows any dust outside (assuming there is a window in the bathroom), and you could rent an air scrubber from Home Depot to stick outside of the bathroom where the work is being done.Thanks. Just to clarify: I am absolutely not looking for medical opinions.
Just want to know if there are dust or fumes (and ways to avoid that) with this type of repair so that I will be an informed consumer when talking today to the contractor. I don't have a lot of experience with this business and don't want to rely only on what they say.
My family member is disabled and not easy to relocate. Details about what this type of job entails will be helpful.
Unfortunately anything that involves ripping out tile/drywall/plaster is going to create dust. So will doing drywall/plaster repairs. But it doesn't sound like this is a major remodel project, just a little drywall removal and replacement, so probably won't create too much dust. But as noted above, this is something to discuss with your plumber if you are concerned.
