Telling us more about your current portfolio would help folks here give you better advice. Also amount it would take to buy out spouse’s part of house. Maybe it makes sense to cash out some of your current investments, maybe not. We have no idea what you have to work with so it’s hard to give advice. Age, projected post divorce expenses, and expected income from next job would help too.To clarify, I am living in house and divorce will finalize as been going on for a year and judge sick of it and has said will order / intervene directly if agreement not reached in next two weeks. Unemployment won’t really alter anything in my state as per lawyer.
Unfortunately re job that wil likely take 6 months to a year at my level/ sector. The severance is generous and will cover living expenses.
If can’t really rent then, difficult to see any other option other than stay in house and either liquidate investments or hope for HELOC in time before job officially “lost”?
