I have an IRA investment in an index fund that charges 0.70%. I want to sell that fund so I can purchase a Vanguard fund that is virtually the same but at only 0.05%. What I don't know is when to sell it. Looking back a few years the fund declares capital gains in December. If i sell it now do I lose them or do C/G decrease my investment by that value anyway. Should I sell or wait until after the C/G. It's in an IRA so no taxes involved (I think).
