For folks buying SGOV on margin just to satisfy the requirements, you don't need to by anything on margin. You just need to have a margin balance. So you can withdraw $10K+ from your account using your margin and that's sufficient. Now if you prefer buying something (be it SGOV or VTI) instead of withdrawal, that's also ok. I'll personally, just withdraw $10K for a week or two on margin (on my existing brokerage) and then pay back the Robinhood margin.
Thanks for this.
How would one withdraw on margin, specifically with Fidelity?
When I use the regular "transfer between Fidelity and your bank" page, I get "You only have $CASH available to withdraw." on my margin-enabled account. When I go to the account details I see "Margin buying power: $X" With X being larger than $10k and the available cash.
Two separate fields.
available to withdraw (cash only)
Available to withdraw (margin)
