If your emergency fund is there to defend against job loss, the size of the fund should be in relation to your monthly expenses and your state’s unemployment benefits.
in my opinion, unemployment benefits should not be factored into any calculations. Your company could find a litany of reasons to contest the unemployment claim. Better to be conservative and budget for the assumption that you'll not get anything.
I agree 100%. IMO, it is better to not rely on the govt. because they are likely to let you down. However, if they surprise you, then you can get some relief from the unemployment benefits.
