Personal Consumer Issues • Re: Digging to find piping on your property!

I thought I answered this awhile back.
Call plumber with Ridgid Seesnake, transmitter, and locator.

Put Seesnake camera in line, turn on transmitter, turn on locator, and locate.

Should be able to put you right in the mark and map out the line.
OP, have you found the tank? Start with that. We had what PoorPlumber said done last week. We wanted our septic tank emptied - preferably before it floods the house, and the man coming to empty it couldn’t find it by probing with a metal rod. (We have a lot of rocks.) He referred us to the camera man, who fed a camera/light/transmitter on a reel into the pipe system from inside the house (through an unused toilet flange). A helper took this beeping scanner thing out in the yard and followed the line to the camera end. Ta-da! Our cost (rural) was $150 for the camera man. The bonus was seeing that the inside of the pipes were in good shape.

In our case, the tank was under the soil, a concrete (pre-1980s?) tank with two concrete caps that fit into holes on top. We had to dig to get to the holes/caps, and added risers to make it easier for next time.

TIP: if nobody knows where the tank is, it has not been emptied….
