Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Re: is it a good idea to build generational wealth?

I want to help them "launch" into the world by paying for college, being a good parent, and providing a stable, happy childhood.
My wife and I have the same general idea. I'll add that we might consider helping with a house down payment, depending on our circumstances and theirs. If there are grandchildren, we'd like to put money toward their 529 plans too. Besides that, we have no interest in passing on significant amounts of money. Every family is different, but I've seen some very spoiled recipients of intergenerational wealth in my family. The results haven't been pretty and we want no part in that sort of thing.
