I am tagging on to this discussion to ask a question about portfolio construction. Assume you have a portfolio that is 60/40 in nonretirement (post tax) vs. retirement (split 50/50 Roth and pretax). You desire a 60/40 equity/bond portfolio for the long haul. You are retired but income from pensions covers all your needs. Say you have 3M in nonretirement and 1M each in a Roth IRA and pretax 401k.
Would you try to load your equity in the nonretirement side OR shoot for 60/40 on both sides? Would you build the portfolio in the Roth vs pretax differently from one another?
24% tax bracket, 6% state
