Personal Investments • Turbo Tax Inquiry from Newbie

Basic Newbie question re: Turbotax: We used to file our taxes DIY for a number of years so are pretty familiar with it. But never used online services. As life got complicated with our being employed in multistate businesses got used to using a CPA. In retirement we have simplified to a one state return with SS and investment income only -no employment income, no real estate, no K1- just a 1099 composite and year end summary including interest, dividends, broker transactions and distributions. We cannot itemize. For this year, we would like to purchase Turbo tax to use as a preliminary "worksheet" but have the CPA do a final submission for comparison and protection. If you purchase Turbo tax can you go through the entire process and get a sample final return without actually submitting it? We think for one year it might be worth it to double pay. And which one do you get for above? Premier?

Our current CPA does actual tax submission only- does not offer tax planning or tax optimization. But his price is getting high. Getting a new CPA is of course an option.
