if they are assets transferred from elsewhere and non-covered, that is one reason. I have a couple of individual stocks that are blank. They transferred over from Fidelity many years ago. Everything else is shown.If the column is blanked out for you, Vanguard must have incomplete cost basis information for some reason. That's strange if you've seen the average cost basis listed in your statements previously. You might want to get in touch with them to see why it's blanked out, that's definitely weird.
Thanks. I'm seeing a "Cost per share" column between the "Quantity" column and "Total cost" column. I assume that's what you're talking about. However, for no clear reason, that column is blanked out for me. (That is, it has dashes instead of values.) And not just for one fund, but for all my funds. Baffling.
Perhaps the cost-basis method hasn't been selected for OP's asset -- perhaps that makes a difference.
