I was exposed to studies that T. Rowe Price conducted in the early 1980s that showed how investments in U.S. and international equities outperformed bonds and other investments over long time periods. I read those studies and decided to implement them for my own investments. They led me to dollar cost average into U.S. and international equities, such as the TSP’s C, S, and I Funds from 1987 until 2017; exactly 30 years. I never deviated from this, even when the equities markets declined by large percentages.
