Personal Consumer Issues • Goint to Northern Italy in March - what cities/towns should hit?

We are visiting Northern Italy in March of this year.
We are in our mid 70's and in good shape.
We like to walk and use mass transit [not into driving/car rent]
Will start in Venice for carnival then on to Trieste and walk the Strada Napoleonica.
We also plan to visit Cinque Terre and make most of the walks.
We aren't into museums or tours just walking around the cities/towns, visit churches, squares etc.
We like day hikes easy to moderate
[Our last trip was to Budapest, Prague & Vienna - the 1st 2 we loved, Vienna - not so much].
What other cities should we visit in Northern/central Italy?
We are looking at but not limited to:
Orvieto
Verona
Bologna
Tks in advance for any advice.
