Yup, people go into analysis paralysis over something simple, albeit a pain, like moving. There are whole forums and reddit subs dedicated to this. Just move, you can always move again, or move back.Much of the difficulty is psychological.

OP, I moved all over the place for work before retiring. Moved once after retiring and won't move again. Job, roof, boxes, bubble wrap, and a truck(or full service mover). If the family is onboard, it is literally that simple. Dispose of your old place as you please.
Update the pertinent stuff on the other end such as addresses, DL/Reg/voting, school enrollment, new docs/dentists, any legal docs affected by states, new bars/restaurants to become a regular at, etc. Create a list of junk to update by priority on the other end.
I do recommend renting in an area before you buy. Reason being is it is easy to find an adequate place to rent from a distance in an area that you've done internet and maybe a weekend's worth of on foot research. Finding a 'perfect' place to live in forever can take a bit more time. Hence my one move after retiring.
Now there are always more considerations not the least of which are hyper localized issues like taxes/school district issues, but that's why you do the drive bye to rent and then buy nearby after careful research.
Not trying to minimize the decision or the cost of moving, but try not to overthink it. What is the best way to do spring cleaning? Move and let someone else do it. Good luck.
