What state are you in that pays for assisted living?One assisted living facility is 6800 a month that is licensed by Medicaid. So when my 83 year old mom spends down she applies for Medicaid and can stay at the facility. The other facility is 5400 and is private pay only. So, my mom would have to move to a Medicaid facility once she spends down. So at 5400 a month, my mom has about 3.5 years before running out of funds and moving. And who knows what kind of quality Medicaid facility she gets.
It seems for the long term, the 6800 is a better deal and my mom does not have to move. However, what if she does not like the place and ends up paying more
