Read quite well. Here’s a hint. Your situation is not universal. Just because your employer has never pulled that trigger YET doesn’t mean a) they never will or b) your experience may have no applicability to ops. That op DW is only given 2 yrs to comp, etc BS and your employer says 10 tells me they look at it different.

Not in nursing, but I ha seen people told ‘this is required and others tell them, don’t worry they never do it’. The others were right for years until suddenly they weren’t. Those who could not show recent real progress…gone. Those who could show they were working on BS, given allowance but with aggressive timeline. Those who had completed BS…no probs.

Just because your employer doesn’t follow through says nothing about ops DW. One change in mgmt is all it takes.
@LotsaGray can you summarize your position for why OP's wife should not talk to her (soon-to-be) coworkers to get more information so that she can make an informed decision (about how quickly to get her BSN)? Please be as succinct as possible.

I'm worried that otherwise our side discussion will not be useful to OP (and OP's wife).
Torso has done it quite well. But to possibly put it more succinctly. Just believe what employer has stated is the policy. Take advantage of the offer to pay. While two years is very aggressive at least try.
