At one point in time, I remember people hopping on the SGI band wagon. And one argument was, “they are sitting on over $5B of the most valuable land in California. EVEN if they went out of business, the land alone makes them undervalued…..”.Speaking of NVIDIA. One of first investments was ........ da da da da........ SGI Image may be NSFW.

This was in 2003. NVIDIA had been developing graphics cards for the PC for a while at that time, I was into CGI related programming around that time and SGI had really awesome graphics pipelines for the time. And SGI price had dropped to like 1$ or something like that at the time. I was convinced that it was going to make a massive comeback. And sure enough within the next few weeks the price doubled.
But pretty soon the company went bankrupt and was sold.
I had a coworker who was like all-in to NVIDIA at the time. I always wonder if he hung on to his NVIDIA shares.
They made amazing machines. One guy came to work for us just because we had ONE of them. He said this is what they made Toy Story on….. I think we paid like $50o for it. And now, to eBay…. https://www.ebay.com/b/SGI-Vintage-Work ... bn_5608416
Just crazy. I’m glad to have seen and heard all this as it unfolded, because it will help me to tune out “the noise” when it comes roaring back.
