Are you entitled to healthcare in the country where you currently reside? If you were diagnosed with a serious illness (e.g., cancer) tomorrow, would you be eligible to be treated there?
Yes, we do have a separate domestic insurance policy for this. But even if we didn't and had to come back to US for treatment - couldn't we just enroll again during the open enrollment if needed?
I can think of lots of medical events where that would not be practical, so, respectfully, I don't think your plan is a good one at all.
