Investing - Theory, News & General • Re: Asset allocation approaching retirement

Hi Forum,
My husband (57) and I (55) are planning to retire in 5 years. Up until now, we've used a 60:40 asset allocation and have been comfortable weathering the storms and up and down markets with that. However, now that we're within 5 years of retirement, we've noticed that we've become uneasy with having 60% of our retirement savings in stocks. With that 5 year time horizon until retirement, how (if at all) should we adjust our asset allocation?
As always, many thanks!

I am quite-recently retired and am currently about one-third Vanguard Balanced Index Fund (VBIAX), one-third Vanguard Target Retirement Income Fund VTINX), and one-third Vanguard Wellesley Income Fund (VWIAX). It puts me in the 45-ish equity range.

Seems to check all the boxes for me. May simplify further and just go with half VBIAX and half VTINX.

Best.
