I won the most employee awards from my peers during the year that I was laid off.+1000.Denied promotion then offered a severance package. To me it seems like the writing is on the wall, they are going to follow up VSPs with "workforce reduction" aka layoffs. And the offer is very unlikely to get better.
FWIW, I know an employee that has the highest rating three years in a row that was let go in the first round of lay off after two years of no lay offs. The company has had lay off every year prior. The company is a Fortune Global 500 company. Take the money now. You have a lot of good suggestions on what to do next in this thread.
