Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Re: Help me advise my wife with job issue

I’m disappointed by the disrespect being shown to the OP by certain posters upthread. He has a legitimate question/concern and is sincerely trying to help his wife and his family. Saying ridiculous things like you have a problem or you have control issues is way out of line! I would offer that if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

To OP, given that the employer stated they would do a 6-month compensation review, if I were in your wife’s shoes I would kindly ask to discuss it now with her supervisor. It’s not too late, yet. You gave them the opportunity in June and they dropped the ball. In this meeting, be polite at all times so as to not give them a reason to reneg. And set your expectations low, as it will help in not getting upset. But ultimately if they decide to reneg on the oral agreement they made upon hire, the employer will have to do that to her face at this meeting. That is powerful. And they will know there are potential consequences in terms of her being unhappy and potentially leaving soon.
