Many go down that path. Have you priced public storage options recently? It ain't cheap. It only makes good sense to use public storage
Bingo. It is also not fiscally responsible to pay hundreds (or thousand) of dollars a year to store a bunch of stuff that eventually will just go to the landfill or (at best) donated. There are also the costs of transporting and the hidden costs of mental/physical energy to figure it all out. Why don't the principals get rid of their stuff before they need to move? Same exact reasons. In fact, as a fiduciary, one would argue it is not fiscally responsible to keep the goods in a high-priced living facility.
If I wanted to start a small business (I don't), I would seriously consider buying/building one of those self-storage facilities. Where else can you rent 25 square feet of space for hundreds of dollars a year and have close to zero maintenance?
