I am retired and have enough in TIAA traditional to annuitize at $3x,xxx.00 annually for lifetime. If I needed that for living expenses in retirement, it would be a reasonable way to provide a base for income. What I have discovered; however, is that since I do not need it in retirement, I have limited options for withdrawal, and I cannot move it to a mutual fund or ETF. So you should be aware of the limitations before choosing to contribute to Traditional. I had other funds in TIAA Cref not in Traditional, all of which I moved to Vanguard when I became a more knowledgeable investor.
