I had a Kohler 20kw installed about a year and a half ago. I went with it because several neighbors have them and are pleased. They also offered a nice rebate and an extended 10 year warranty. What I came to find out later, as others mentioned above,
Is certified technicians are far and few between. There is only one within hundreds of miles of my location. They want over $400/year for a service contract and if you don’t get it you go to the bottom of the list during major outages. As for what size you need, you should have that determined by either Generac or Kohler. I would get a quote on both.
